Holidays With Family
December 5, 2019
Dear Church Family,
What is your role in family gatherings? I was reflecting on past holidays with my family this week and thinking about my tasks for these events. As a child, my job was to pick the napkin rings and put the napkins in them. At the Christmas Eve meal we have at my aunt’s home, my job for many years has been to make a sweet and sour sausage appetizer. Is there something you’ve done for years for the holidays for your family?
This weekend, as a church family we are about to gather for our annual community Christmas party: Christmas Blvd. For an event this large, there are lots of tasks. While there are no napkin rings to stuff and the food will be made by professionals, there are still lots of other roles. Have you found your place yet? If you have, I look forward to serving alongside you starting tomorrow! If you haven’t, what are you waiting for? You don’t want to miss it. Serving with the rest of the family strengthens relationships. If you are newer here, time spent parking cars or serving pizza with others is what can make this place feel like home, make you feel like part of the family.
While you’re serving be on the lookout for those who have no idea what being part of our church family looks like. Welcome them home!
