A Call to Discipleship
February 1, 2016
Dan Crane for the series Sermons 2016 at the Worship Center
from the book of
The Gospel is a unifying force. It brings different people together and unites them. We may all come from different walks of life, but we are united in our common need, our common deliverance, and the common glory that Jesus has accomplished for us.
And yet Jesus’s disciples have often been tempted to think that the Gospel is only for people that think, talk, and act like them. This was true in Jesus’s day just as it is true in ours.
But the Gospel is for everyone. When Jesus commissioned his disciples to go out into all the world, he imagined that his followers would reach and impact every nation and every culture. His followers were meant to be recklessly international and reach all people, regardless of class, age, gender, sex, and race.
The world has changed since Jesus first commissioned his disciples. Many nations have come and gone, countless cultures have changed and morphed. But the human need for salvation remains unchanged.
Jesus, just as he boldly proclaimed while on earth, still intends to reign as Lord over the whole earth, from Jerusalem to the very ends of the earth.
Are you eager to join in God’s mission to make disciples of entire nations? Do you need to be reminded of Jesus’s global vision? Listen to Dan Crane as he exhorts us from the Book of Acts to join in God’s mission to seek and to save the lost.
