CIRCLE OF FRIENDS LEAD TEACHER

Reports to: Shepherd of Special Needs

Works: Part time, approximately 6.5 hours per week, hourly, non-exempt

Works with: Special Needs Ministries team members and volunteers

Pay Range: $20 – $22 per hour

Scope:

The Circle of Friends lead teacher ministers to special needs students during Sunday morning classes by teaching about Jesus and His love through various media—crafts, story, Scripture verses, music, and video. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. Training in ABA is highly recommended but not necessarily required.

Sunday Morning Ministry – 60%

  • Greet students and parents as they arrive.
  • Consult with parents as needed.
  • Teach lessons in Circle of Friends classes.
  • Mentor and direct Sunday morning volunteers.
  • Work as needed with behaviorally challenged students.
  • Assist with strategies for and training on behaviors and procedures.
  • Interface with Shepherd of Special Needs as needed on curriculum.
  • Partner in teamwork with other Special Needs ministry lead teachers.

Other Ministry – 40%

  • Cultivate intimacy with God and growth in Christ-like character through personal and corporate spiritual disciplines.
  • Assist with performing arts group and other outside activities as determined by the Shepherd of Special Needs Ministry.
  • Participate in training and conferences as directed.
