Annually, Fullerton Free Church members have the privilege of choosing elders. With 1 Timothy 3:1-7 as our model, names are submitted from the congregation, staff, ministry leadership teams, current elders and past elders. A nominating committee made up of staff, congregation and current Elder Board members reviews the names submitted and submits a list of candidates to the Elder Board for review. From there, nominees are contacted and a slate of nominees are submitted for congregational affirmation. This model has served this church well for over 60 years as God has raised up men to help lead, guide and shepherd this church.
This year, there are four Elder at Large roles and one Elder Board Vice-Chair role open. The candidates are:
- Jay Huckabone – Current Elder at Large, nominated for Vice-Chair,
- Justin White – Current Elder at Large continuing for a 2nd term,
- Gene Shepherd and Josh Freeman – new Elder Board nominees
- Jeff Key – former elder
I want to also thank our nominating committee: Amy Gaw, Carolyn Litchfield, Jay Huckabone, Mark Sturgis, Nick Shubin and Scott Belon for helping in this important process.
At our Family Business Meeting on February 9 at 4:00pm, you will have an opportunity to meet these nominees. Then on the first Sunday in May, we will hold our Affirmation Sunday for all members to vote on these candidates.
God has blessed His church here in Fullerton and has richly provided “1 Timothy 3” men who love Him and love this church. Thank you for joining with us in this process to affirm those whom He has called.
