Preschool Director

Reports to: Shepherd of Students and Kids

Oversees: Preschool Assistant Director, Preschool Office Manager, Preschool Teachers

Works: Full Time/Exempt

Scope:

The Preschool Director is responsible for the oversight of the preschool, the preschool staff, the connection to the mission of the larger church and keeping the preschool on top of state standards and guidelines. The Director serves as the face of the preschool to kids and families and helps develop and lead a culture that creates a safe place for kids to learn and grow and gain a larger picture of Jesus in the process.

Lead Preschool in Connection to the Church Vision and Mission—30%

  • Train and equip teachers as missionaries on campus
  • Meet regularly with Students and Kids Shepherd
  • Promote and team with Kids Ministries events
  • Develop and implement curriculum for teaching preschool kids educationally and spiritually
  • Hold to state guidelines and policies required for keeping a safe and positive environments for kids, families and teachers
  • Hire, Equip, Support and Encourage Preschool Teachers and Staff—30%

    • Hire and oversee training and onboarding of any staff, in conjunction with Assistant Director and Office Manager
    • Meet with every teacher every two months
    • Increase staff morale and value through meetings, prayer and support
    • Connect teachers with church staff and leadership
    • Oversee timecards and payroll
    • Handle onboarding and offboarding teachers

    Develop Relationships and Connect Points with Families—15%

    • Create engaging and intentional events to reach/connect families to church (in partnership with the Kids Ministry team) including coffee stations, prospective family tours, presence during drop off and pick up
    • Organize and MC regular Chapel times
    • Serve as the MC for the Christmas Event and Graduation Events
    • Provide spiritual leadership and communication at preschool events
    • Help provide spiritual emphasis for all preschool activity

    Administrative Details – 15%

    • Emails, phone calls, scheduling and calendaring
    • Follow up and communication with families
    • Serve as the MC for the Christmas Event and Graduation Events
    • Oversee the Assistant Director on issues of scheduling, credentialing, etc.
    • Oversee the Office Manager in regard to billing, applications etc.

    Other Ministry —10%

    • Supporting families in crisis and difficulties
    • Follow up and communication with families
    • General shepherd responsibilities

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 18 ECE units (Infant/Toddler Development, Principles & Practices of ECE, Intro. to Child Development, Intro. to ECE Curriculum, Family, Home & Community, Administration I (optional Admin. II in addition)
    • 16 hours training of Health & Safety
    • First Aid/Infant & Child CPR
    • Pest Control Management training (can acquire after hired)
    • TB test, MMR, DTap, optional Influenza
    • Mandated Reporter Training
    • Clear and active fingerprints through Live Scan (Child Care 6+ group size)
    • Minimum of one year preschool teaching experience
    • Optional: California Director’s Permit or BA in Child Development or Early Childhood Educationg
