Ministry Assistant: Students & Kids Ministries

Position Type: Part-time, 25-28 hr/wk. Hourly, non-exempt.

Reports to: Shepherd of Families and Facilities and Office Manager

Pay Range: $20-$23/hour

Scope:

The Student and Kids Ministries Assistant helps the Family Ministries team to perform their tasks, by creating an environment that encourages spiritual growth, keeping healthy communication and connection with parents and by multi-tasking on various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Communication and Connection – 30%

  • Be a welcoming presence to anyone who visits the ministry office.
  • Compose and send regular communication to students, leaders, families.
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries regarding programs.
  • Team with leadership in communication to Students & Kids Ministry families.
  • Initiate follow-up phone calls and emails with new families and students.

Administration – 30%

  • Provide administrative support to the Students & Kids Ministries Teams through use of the church management system (Direct Connect), system & process updates, registrations, weekly counts, etc.
  • Assist in creation of print media, sign-in sheets, flyers, registration materials for events and programs. maintain & update ministry calendars, rosters, forms and payments.
  • Coordinate any rooms and resources for events and services.

Organization – 25%

  • Manage daily office coordination, maintenance requests, product orders, paper needs, conference room calendars.
  • Maintain organization of Students & Kids Ministries office, Children’s Workroom & North Campus work spaces.
  • Update Direct Connect, Kids Check-In System, E-Space, MailChimp mailing list, etc., make room reservations, run errands as required.

Other Ministry – 15%

  • Participate in weekly staff meetings; meet with volunteer leaders as needed.
  • Attend meetings with various ministry teams.
  • Support development and implementation of administrative and HR policies.
  • Offer assistance and coordination as needed to other ministries as a team player.

Work Environment:

This role operates primarily in a church office environment and requires regular interaction with staff, volunteers, and congregation members. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required for major church events or ministry needs.
